Celia Ford retired in 1989 from the Freeport Public Schools, Long Island., N.Y., as a School Nurse-Health Teacher. She was born, bred, and raised in Brooklyn, New York and graduated from the "colored" Lincoln School for Nurses, Bronx, NY in 1949, as a Registered Nurse.
She married, Cornelius, had four children, Theresa, Ronald, Ellen, and Lawrence, and went on to get her Bachelor of Science from the State University of N.Y. at Oneonta. She taught elementary school on Long Island for many years and remained active in the NAACP, American Cancer Society, Chi Eta Phi Sorority, and many other organizations at the Memorial Presbyterian Church, Roosevelt, NY where she served as Deacon for many years.
Celia's writing includes Pearls of Wisdom From Three Generations with her daughter and granddaughter and also writes poems and verses. She has maintained daily journal writing for the past 25 years.
Celia is currently active in organizations, serving as Secretary for the Jewels of Ebenezer AME Church and the Busy Bees. An author, inspirational speaker, and columnist, she lives in Fort Washington, Maryland with her husband, over 50 years.
